General
The Centre Belge de Formation à la Sécurité Incendie (CBFSI) is a training organisation specialised in fire prevention, evacuation, fire fighting and workplace emergency response.
Based in Brussels with operations throughout Belgium, we train professionals and companies in the reflexes that save lives.
We offer the following training programmes:
• Fire prevention — Identifying risks and using fire extinguishers
• Evacuation — Evacuation procedures and emergency exit management
• Fire response team member — First intervention team member
• Fire safety refresher — Annual skills update
• First aid — Emergency response techniques (via our partner CBFPS)
Each programme is available in French and Dutch.
Our trainers are professionals from the world of firefighting and security. They combine technical expertise with teaching skills to deliver practical, field-oriented training.
Our training sessions are available in French and Dutch. Please specify the preferred language when requesting a quote.
Training
The duration varies depending on the type of training:
• Fire prevention: half day (approximately 3–4 hours)
• Evacuation: half day (approximately 3–4 hours)
• Fire response team member: full day
• Refresher: half day
Each programme includes a theoretical component and practical exercises.
Yes, absolutely. All our training sessions combine theory and practice. Participants handle professional equipment (fire extinguishers, protective gear) and carry out simulations in realistic conditions.
This is the strength of our programmes: your staff leave with immediately applicable skills.
To ensure learning quality and personalised support, our groups are generally limited to 12–15 participants per session.
For larger groups, we organise multiple sessions. Contact us to adapt the schedule to your needs.
The fire prevention training is aimed at all employees: it covers risk identification, the use of fire extinguishers and basic reflexes.
The fire response team member course is more advanced: it trains first intervention team members capable of acting with specialised equipment and coordinating a response before emergency services arrive.
Belgian regulations recommend an annual refresher of fire safety skills. This keeps reflexes sharp and ensures compliance with regulatory updates.
We offer adapted refresher sessions, shorter than the initial training.
Practical organisation
Absolutely. We travel throughout Belgium to train your teams directly at your workplace. This is in fact the most popular option chosen by our clients.
You can also come to our training centre in Brussels.
Nothing at all. All training materials are provided by CBFSI: training fire extinguishers, simulation equipment, course materials and protective gear.
You simply need to provide a suitable space (a room + outdoor area for practical exercises).
Three simple options:
1. Via our online registration form
2. By email at info@cbfsi.be
3. By phone at +32 484 90 64 90
Our team will confirm your session and arrange the logistics within 24 hours.
Yes. We operate throughout Belgium: Brussels, Wallonia and Flanders. Our trainers travel according to your needs, whether you are in Liège, Antwerp, Ghent, Namur or elsewhere.
Legal obligations
Yes. The Code on Well-being at Work requires every employer to train their employees in fire safety. This includes fire prevention, the use of extinguishing means and evacuation procedures.
The employer must also organise regular evacuation drills and designate first intervention team members.
The main legal bases are:
• The Code on Well-being at Work (Book III, Title 3) — Fire prevention in the workplace
• Royal Decree of 28 March 2014 — Fire prevention in the workplace
• The RGRP — General Regulations for the Protection of Labour
Our training sessions are designed to meet all of these requirements.
Regulations require that all employees receive basic information and training on fire risks and evacuation procedures.
In addition, every company must designate a sufficient number of first intervention team members trained in fire fighting. The number depends on the size of the company and the risk assessment.
Failure to comply with fire safety obligations can result in:
• Administrative sanctions from the labour inspectorate
• Criminal prosecution in the event of an accident
• Civil liability of the employer for damages caused
• Insurance problems in the event of a claim
Compliance is both a legal obligation and a protective measure for your company and your employees.
